Good morning! I remember being a little kid and having a very healthy respect for my dad's authority. I was afraid of him if I did wrong in that I new he could and would punish me for doing wrong.

I also knew he loved me and wanted what was best for me, even if I didn't understand it at the time. I also experienced his love and compassion for me at times. I was playing with a toy truck and it rolled under the washer. I reached to get it, but my hand with the truck was too big to slip out and I got caught under the washing machine.

I let out a whimper of pain and fear of being caught and my dad came running into the kitchen. He immediately lifted the washer and got my hand uncaught. He hugged me, asked if I was alright and made sure I wasn't hurt. He had pity on me in my distress. This is a portrait of God and how He deals with His children.

When we face seasons of weakness, disappointment, or uncertainty, it can be easy to imagine that God is distant or frustrated with us. Psalm 103 reminds us that God's response is one of compassion. He sees the burdens we carry and the battles we face, and He invites us to draw near to Him with confidence. Just as a child finds comfort in the embrace of a caring father, we can find rest in the steadfast love of our Heavenly Father. We can trust God to love us no matter what happens and we can always trust Him to give us strength to make every day a great day!
