Sunday's Devotional - 8/09/2026

Good morning! How often do we treat God's voice like a snooze button? How often do you hide behind cliches like, "Let me pray about it" when you feel the nudge to act on His word or do something that makes us feel uncomfortable? Delayed obedience is just disobedience.

I understand there are times when what God lays on your heart is for a later time and being sensitive to the timing takes prayer and counsel. But what about when He asks us to forgive someone, step out in faith to pay for someone's items at a store, stop to talk to a stranger when we are in a hurry or some other faith act that requires immediate response?

Delayed obedience feels safe because it looks like we are just taking time to think things through. But in reality, putting off what God has clearly asked us to do is often just disobedience wrapped in good intentions. The psalmist offers a completely different rhythm for living: urgency. There is no room for hesitation when the Lord speaks; there is only immediate action. 

True faith doesn't wait for perfect circumstances before choosing to obey God's Word. When we hurry to align our hearts and actions with His directives, we protect ourselves from the creeping rationalizations that usually try to talk us out of doing what's right. Learn to discipline yourself to act instead of question, be obedient instead of making excuses and take action in the moment so you won't miss the blessing of being someone's miracle as you make a great day!
