Sunday's Devotional - 10/04/2026

Good morning! In a world that is so self-focused, these verses are controversial. It breaks the model of this world and says to look at others considering them better than yourself. Social media has taught everyone that you are the most important person in the world. Let me help you; you're not.
I don't mean to sound harsh but reality is harsh. The truth can hurt but it will free you if you let it. We should not think of ourselves so highly that we are conceited and selfish with a false sense of entitlement. Our mindset has to shift from, "What's in it for me?" to "How will that effect everyone?"
A selfish, self-absorbed society will crumble quickly. But if we practice the principles of the kingdom, we will have a long-lasting society that is strong. In a church, often people argue over petty things like carpet color, music styles, decor, and personal preferences. I've seen church splits happen over Formica!
It's time we grow up in maturity in faith. We look to Jesus who taught us how to serve and love one another for the sake of the kingdom. Let us put off selfish ambition and put on the mind of Christ who laid down His life for others. Consider each other and you will see how to make a great day each day!
