Sunday's Devotional - 10/25/2026

Good morning! I remember being a teenager and thinking I knew it all. My dad managed a gas station and would also do mechanical repairs on vehicles. He had a tool for everything and knew how to use them. I thought I could do it better. I found out I was wrong.
While working on my own car, I had my own way of trying to go about it. Dad came over and told me he had a special tool for that specific repair. I told him I got it. He tried to warn me, but I was too stubborn to listen. Well, a few rounded off nuts and broken knuckles later, I realized I made a bigger repair out of something simple if I had just listened.
Dad didn't yell at me. He simply asked if I was ready to listen to do what he said to fix my car. He had me clean up muy wounds and then we fixed the car together. In my later years, I now realize how I wish I had listened more to his wise counsel. So it is with our faith walk.
We sometimes learn the hard way and those lessons stick with us to show us why we need to listen to God's wise counsel. How many "rounded off bolts" and "busted knuckles" do you have from not listening? When we listen to the Lord, it always works out. He will make His will come to pass with or without us. It's better to be in the blessing than the brokenness of disobedience. Listen to the wise counsel of the Lord and He will always show you how to make a great day!
