Good morning! Jesus has fasted 40 days and nights in the wilderness. Afterwards, He was hungry. The devil himself came when Jesus was vulnerable to try to get Him to compromise and sin. Jesus, though He was hungry for food, was more hungry for righteousness.
He could have turned a stone into bread and ate of it. It seems like a reasonable thing to do, but He would have compromised something and entertained the devil's ploy to perform rather than trust. Jesus rested in knowing the Father would provide all He needed.
He also knew that even if He didn't get the nourishment He needed physically from the Father, it would be better to suffer for righteousness than to compromise in performance. Submit yourself to God, resist the devil and he will flee you. That's the pattern Jesus showed us.
He was willing to rest in the Father and rely on His word to be enough for Him. How often do you let the things of the flesh get in the way of righteousness? How often do you compromise instead of trust? Is the word enough for you? Let His word be enough to sustain you through every temptation so that you can stabnd firm in righteousness as you make a great day!
