Good morning! There is a profound difference between visiting a place and dwelling there. In our busy, often chaotic lives, it is easy to treat God’s presence like a spiritual emergency room—a place we rush to only when anxiety spikes or a crisis hits.

But the opening verse of Psalm 91 invites us into something much deeper than an occasional visit. It calls us to pull up a chair, unpack our bags, and make our home in the "shelter of the Most High." To dwell means to remain, to settle in, and to establish our daily rhythms around His presence rather than our own endless checklists. When we choose to dwell in His shelter, an incredible shift happens: we find ourselves abiding in the shadow of the Almighty. Think about how a physical shadow works—it requires close, uninterrupted proximity. You cannot be in someone's shadow unless you are standing right next to them.

In the ancient near East, a shadow represented relief from the blistering, exhausting heat of the desert. For us, His shadow is a place of cool refreshment, a shield from the burning pressures of anxiety, fear, and the demands of a world that never seems to rest. Today, notice where your mind goes when it wanders, or where you turn when the pressure mounts. Are you trying to carry the weight of your world on your own shoulders, or are you resting in the shadow of the One who holds it all?

You don't have to fabricate your own strength or hustle your way into peace. The invitation stands open right now: step out of the scorching heat of your worries, move close to the Father, and let His overwhelming presence be the safe home where your soul rests today as you make a great day!
