Good morning! This verse comes at the end of a passage about the coming of the Lord in the end times. It encourages us to keep hope alive and remind each other of Lord coming back for us. It tells us not to get weighed down by the cares of this world especially as the darkness increases.
It's easy to see why people turn to substances like alcohol and drugs to inebriate themselves to deal with the hopelessness going on around us. When you have no reference of hope, you lose faith in things ever getting better. As believers in Christ, we know the hope of His salvation and eternal glory.
Therefore, as we know this and find hope, encourage each other with it so you too do not get carried away with the things of this world. It will get bad, but Jesus will come for us that we may escape the wrath of God poured out on unbelievers. Comfort each other with this and look up for the redemption of our Savior, Jesus Christ as you make a great day!
