Wednesday's Verse of the Day Devotional

Good morning! Worship is important. God has given us a way to worship Him in His word. There is a pattern for worship that is acceptable to Him. It's often hard for us to understand, especially in the USA because we don't have a king or live in a kingdom.

In kingdoms, the king has a specific way that is acceptable to be approached. You don't just get to come any way you want before a king. In some instances, approaching the wrong way meant death. In the Old Testament, God had a way the priests came to Him in the Tent of Meeting.

If they approached Him wrongly, they would be struck dead in His presence. If they skipped a step or came with an unclean heart, they wouldn't come out alive. Worship is serious which is why Jesus told us in order to worship God acceptably, we must come to Him in spirit and in truth. Must is a definitive and strong word.

So, we can't take it lightly. It's not about the songs we sing but the posture of our hearts. We must come to Him in the fullness of who we are understanding who He is and bowing before Him acknowledging Him as the greatest. It is important to recognize His sovereignty over all of creation. This is the truth of who He is and how we must worship Him.

Let the pattern of the word be a guide for us to worship God not just with our mouth or our mannerisms, but with our heart and soul. He alone is worthy of every praise. He alone deserves the glory and honor. Worship Him with all you are for all He is and you will always be able to make a great day!
