Wednesday's Verse of the Day Devotional

Good morning! Jesus is life. Without Jesus, there is no life. Not physically and definitely not spiritually. John even eludes to this in 1:3-4 saying, "All things were made through Him, and without Him nothing was made that was made. In Him was life, and the life was the light of men."

Therefore, death has no power over Him. He proved this when He went to the cross, died, was put in a tomb and rose again back to life three days later. He has authority over life and death. If we want to have power over death, we must believe in Jesus. If we do, death is not our portion, but eternal life in Christ.

Right after He spoke this verse, He exercised His authority over life and death by raising Lazarus from the dead, even though he had been dead four days and had started to decay. What a testimony to His power and God's great glory! No matter how far gone Lazarus was, Jesus still held the power to his life in His hands.

Have you put your life in the Master's hands? Not just the parts that are easy and comfortable, but all of it? Even the parts you don't feel safe talking about with anyone? When you trust Him with all of your life, you don't have to have any fear of death. He is able! Because of Jesus, death is defeated and eternal life is granted to all who believe.
