Wednesday's Verse of the Day Devotional

ree

Good morning! Jesus cleanses us from all our sin, but we have a responsibility to get rid of things in our lives. I remember when I got saved, I no longer had a desire to listen to the same music that I did when I was bound in sin.

I got rid of that music and anything else that didn't belong in my life. Jesus wasn't coming into my room to do that. He left that up to me to do and I had a choice to make with my new-found freedom. I choose to get rid of the junk and sinful things that I did not need or want anymore.

I filled my life with genuine Christian music and filled my life with the word of God daily. I wanted to learn how to live the new life I had committed to and now had in Christ. I didn't want to be the same anymore. I needed to unlearn bad habits so I could live a life pleasing to God. I had to die, so Jesus could live in me.

This picture seems out of place with the content of the verse, but it is befitting because flowers are often put on caskets when someone passes away. We must learn to let our old life and ways of thinking that lead to eternal destruction pass away to put on the new life and the mind of Christ that leads to eternal life. What is in your life that needs to be crucified with Christ? Nail it to the cross, let Him fill you with new desires, receive the word and learn how to make a great day in Christ!
