Wednesday's Verse of the Day Devotional

Good morning! Division was an issue or else the Apostle Paul would not have pleaded with them to be in unity. Jesus wouldn't have prayed for it in John 17 as some of His final moments if it wasn't important.

Jesus even asked in Matthew 13, "Who do you say that I am?" He needed unity to accomplish His ministry. Who we know Jesus to be and agreeing with what heaven says about Jesus as a body is vital for the church to be effective in carrying out the will of God.

All churches should agree that Jesus is the Son of God, begotten of the Father, conceived in the womb of a virgin by the Holy Spirit, born and lived a sinless life, shed His blood on a cross in death, rose to life again three days later, has ascended to the right hand of the Father and is coming again to take His bride, the church, home.

That is the essence of the gospel. If we all believe, speak and judge by this, we will have unity. Let us strive to believe the gospel and that Jesus is the only way to salvation through faith in Him alone. Then, people will be compelled to believe in Him, repent of their sins and receive the gift of salvation too. Isn't that the goal? Strive for this individually and corporately as you make a great day!
