Good morning! The Holy Spirit bears fruit in us that we do not have within ourselves. When we surrender to the Lord, He can work in and through us to do what we could not do on our own. On our own, our love has limits. Our joy is circumstantial at best.
Our peace is situational. Our patience are limited. Our kindness is moody. Our goodness is biased. Our faithfulness is flaky. Our gentleness is testy and our self-control is negotiable. How often do you fall short of bearing these characteristics?
If we're honest, probably quite a lot. Humanity can push our limits, test our boundaries and tempt our self-control. The enemy can use people to really get on your last nerve. This is why we must be fully dependent upon the Holy Spirit to help us in our time of weakness.
His love is without limits, His joy is everlasting, His peace is unending, His patience endures, His kindness is ever-present, His goodness is self-evident, His faithfulness is above reproach, His self-control is perfect. If we live this way, we are not under the law of death but under the Spirit who gives life. Ask the Holy Spirit to help you and bear fruit in you every day that you may live pleasingly to God and show others Jesus lives as you make a great day!
