Tuesday's Verse of the Day Devotional

ree

Good morning! Yesterday, I was still recovering from the flu and really felt worn out from my body spiking a high fever. I rested more than I usually would and tried to hydrate more than I thought I needed to make sure I have enough fluids in me.

It's not easy to drink when you're not thirsty. It's not easy to eat something when you don't feel hungry or feel nauseous. But it is necessary for getting better and so I forced myself to do those things. I stepped outside today for the first time in nearly a week. It felt good to get some fresh air, even if the wind was howling at fifty miles per hour and the temperature was in the twenties.

Something else I have done was to make sure I stayed in the word and prayer. It would be easy to make an excuse to neglect my regular routine of spiritual nourishment, but it's just as important, if not more so, to feed my spirit with the bread of life as it is to feed my body with food and water. If I want to get well, I need to continue in doing the right things that promote health.

It's the same for us in our spiritual walk. If we neglect to feed our souls with God's word and stay connected to Him in prayer, we cannot expect to be spiritually healthy. It would have been very easy for me to just give up on doing devotionals until I recover. But I value the word so much that I want you all to stay connected in these times we live in. Do not grow weary in doing the right things. Don't give up! In due season, God will give you a harvest! Stay in the word and prayer as you make a great day!
