Tuesday's Verse of the Day Devotional

Good morning! Oftentimes, people quote half the verse that fits what they want to say. Context is important because when something is taken out of context, it becomes a springboard for an agenda rather than a truth to keep us in right standing with God.
Many times, people like the second half of the verse but ignore the first part. A righteous person's prayers are powerful and effective. But, when we are needing to confess a trespass and receive the healing balm of forgiveness, then we shy away.
Let me help you; everyone falls short of the glory of God. No one except Christ is perfect. You will fall short at some point even as a Christian. How you handle it determines the purity of your heart. If you sin, confess it and get forgiven.
If you try to hide it and keep living in an unrepentant state, it will cause much trouble in your life. God cannot answer the prayers of the unrighteous unless it is in repentance. Repent, confess, be forgiven and go sin no more. Then, you will be righteous before God because of Jesus and your prayers will avail much not only for you, but others who stand in need. Think on this today as you make a great day!
