Tuesday's Verse of the Day Devotional

Good morning! Jesus is faithful and just to forgive us of our sins and cleanse us of all unrighteousness like I talked about yesterday. What that looks like is symbolic of what He did in this passage. He drives out that which does not belong.

He drives out everything that is perverse and sinful out of the temple. He tells them it is not about their own personal gain, but a place of prayer to honor God. That physical temple is symbolic of our bodies. We are the temple of the Holy Spirit; a place where God dwells.

It is the deep place of communion with God. Just as Jesus drove out all that didn't belong in the temple building, He wants to drive out every selfish thing out of our hearts in our temple bodies. What has taken up residence in you that does not belong? What have you left Jesus out of because it's too painful or hard to let go of?

What have you let become a place of personal gain instead of a place of worship in your heart? God knows and Jesus wants to get rid of it so you become a place that is full of His glory and not greediness. Let Him drive out all that does not belong so you can worship Him in spirit and in truth as you make a great day!
