Good morning! I used to look at this passage from verses 4-9 as a formula or pattern to use to change my thinking. And, to some extent, it is, but it's more than that. It is an invitation to a deeper relationship with Jesus.
As a formula, it didn't always work for me. Some days were good and some were bad. It's not a math equation that always adds up like 2+2. It's about being in connection to the One who knows you better than you know yourself.
It's an invitation to let His life become your life. To let His thoughts become your thoughts. To let His heart become your heart. It's to become a new creature molded into the image of your Creator more and more each day. It's letting Jesus rule your heart like an umpire rather than anxiety, fear and worry.
It's understanding the God of all creation wants alone time with you. To calm and soothe you in His presence. To teach you to trust Him more. To let His love cast out all of your fear. And, to know Him personally so that no matter what comes your way, you can always connect with Him to know how to make every day a great day!
