Tuesday's Devotional - 10/06/2026

Good morning! This passage is interesting to me because it uses three different words for rain. The former rain is translated early rain and also teacher. In the middle, it gives us rain and it just means rain or rain shower. Then, the latter rain means spring rains that occur in March and April in the Middle East.
Chapter 2 is God's call for repentance and the assurance of His blessing in the response of repentance. He has used rain for judgment before, but put a rainbow in the sky as a sign of His promise that He would not destroy the earth with rain again in judgment. So, the rain is a teacher to remind them of His sovereign power, judgment in righteousness and, as a way of humbling them.
He is promising provision of rain, assurance of not bringing destruction by the rain, and also the blessing of rain for a good harvest for food. He is teaching them to trust Him once again and to recall His blessings so they will turn from wickedness and turn to righteousness. It is worth rejoicing over His goodness that restores us through repentance. Stay focused on Him and stay humble as you walk with Him and make a great day!
