Good morning! Most people when they get into leadership think it's about having others do the work while they supervise. Jesus broke the mold and showed us true leadership is marked by servanthood. He lead by example through serving.
He even said He did not come to be served, but to serve and to give His life as a ransom for many. He was the greatest among them, yet was the servant of all. When He gave the last supper, He washed the disciple's feet. Even Judas who would betray Him and Peter who would deny Him. He served in the lowliest of tasks to show us what love through service is.
A job left up to the youngest and lowest of people, to wash feet and yet the Lord of all creation did it without being asked or forced to. He showed them what love is and diffused all the competing for "who's the greatest." If you want to be great in the kingdom, serve. If you want to please God, serve. If you want to be a help in the body, serve.
Serve others, even those who would betray you and watch how it changes things. It keeps you humble before God and convicts their hearts of the sinfulness in theirs. Live a life of selfless service to God by serving others and you will be great in the kingdom. By serving, you can always have purpose and make each day a great day!
