Thursday's Verse of the Day Devotional

Good morning! Jesus really made the Pharisee's mad pretty often. They hated Him. They couldn't control, contain, confine or stop Him. He wouldn't play the religious games they were used to. He came to reveal the kingdom, not establish or perfect another religion.

So, when He said this, they really wanted to kill Him. You know why? They saw Him as just another man and they saw themselves as superior to Him. What He said offended everything that encompassed their lives.

The Tent of Meeting established in Exodus had three doors. The entrance to the Outer Court was called, "The Way." The entrance to the Inner Court was called, "The Truth." The entrance to the Holy of Holies was called, "The Life." It was the place where the sacrifice was made for sin. It was the place the high priest went in once a year to make atonement for sin for the whole nation.

So, by Jesus saying this, He was saying they were no longer the one's people came to for their sin; He was. They were no longer the mediators between the people and God; He was. He said the only way to get into God's presence and receive forgiveness of sin was through Him. Since the cross, His death and resurrection, He has established this as our great High Priest who has made atonement in heaven, not just earth, for our sins.

He is the only way to salvation. Trust in Him and put your faith in Him because man can't save you. You can't save yourself. Only Jesus can do this. No one gets to God except through Jesus. You cannot bypass Him, our great Mediator. Come to Jesus and let Him give you access to the Father so that you can have eternal life. It will give you hope to face anything and make each day a great day!
