Thursday's Verse of the Day Devotional

Good morning! Typically, the lineage is traced through the father and Joseph, who was betrothed to Mary, was from that lineage. But many scholars say she was also from the lineage of David to ensure Jesus was in the bloodline of the prophesies about Him.

He was the Horn of David the Scriptures pointed to that would come from David's lineage to be a Horn of Salvation to the world. When Mary heard the messenger, Gabriel, what she knew about the prophesies had to make her wonder, "could this be the moment we've been waiting for all this time?"

She was pure, godly and poised for the moment when God chose her. How are you preparing for the moment when God chooses you for something only you are meant to do? Are you keeping yourself pure and undefiled from the world? Are you living a godly life? Are you abstaining from immoral, sinful behaviors? Are you poised for when He calls you?

Not only is this a season of reflection about Jesus' birth, but also our own lives. Are we abiding in the truth or just going through the motions? Let this time cause you to pause and reflect to make sure you examine yourself to see if you are in the truth. I pray you let go of any hurt, offenses, unforgiveness, bitterness and anger and receive peace, love and joy. Then, you will have what it takes to make each day a great day!
