Thursday's Verse of the Day Devotional

Good morning! Sometimes, we look at the world and see all the bad things going on and wonder where God is in the midst of it. Where is His sovereignty? Where is His justice? Where is His intervention?

We can get bogged down with the mysteries, but we will miss the alternate perspective. We can choose to see the bad and keep our focus on all of that or choose to see God's patience that endures with mercy. He could very easily just destroy it all, but His mercy endures forever.

It is not God who is causing or allowing evil. It is mankind and the lack of fear of the Lord that has done this. The ignorance of His word has birthed lawlessness in the world. When we don't follow His laws, His ways, His statutes and commandments, we follow our own selfish, lawless desires that lead to the destruction we see on the news every day.

When we see that it is God's great mercy giving us another day to repent and turn from our wickedness as a people, our perspective shifts from blaming God to seeing our own folly. When we choose to follow Him, we see the plan for peace in a broken world. Choose to follow Jesus. Learn His ways and ask Him to teach you His statutes so that everyday you learn how to make a great day!
