Thursday's Devotional - 8/13/2026

Good morning! Discipline and determination make for a recipe for success. No matter what you do in life, if you are not disciplined or determined, you will not be successful at it. Many have good intentions but poor follow through, so they fall short of their goals.

Many people tell me they want to play guitar like me. I tell them all the hours I put into it to play at a high level. I ask them if they're willing to put in that much time and practice. Most say, "NO!" And that is why they don't play at a high level or even at a higher level than what they currently do. They stay stuck.

If you do not have the determination and discipline to do something, you don't truly love it. If you love God, you will not want to sin against Him. You will not take the gift of eternal life lightly. Just like a good marriage takes work, so does a spiritual relationship with Jesus. He even said in John 15 that is you love Him, you will keep His commands and will abide in His love.

Take steps to be successful in your spiritual life. If you do, it will overflow into every other aspect of your life. God will help you to be a disciple through the Holy Spirit. Do your best and let God do the rest. Make a determination to get closer to Jesus every day to abide in His love as you make a great day!
