Sunday's Verse of the Day Devotional

Good morning! Some verses are easier to do than others. This one is a tough one for me. I don't always feel like rejoicing. When the pipe broke on my bath tub last week, I didn't feel like rejoicing. When another pipe a couple days later broke, I really didn't feel like it.
But I rejoiced in the Lord that He has helped me to learn how to fix these things without the need of a plumber. This saved my family hundreds of dollars despite the minor inconvenience. With every reason to complain, there are more reasons to rejoice. You just have to choose which reason you will focus on.
Attitude is everything and so is perspective. Focus on the problem, you will complain or be defeated. Focus on God and you see hope and the One who has the answers. "Lord, I'm trusting you to help me do all things through your strength. I don't know how to plumb, fix appliances, hang drywall, repair my car, or do electrical work. But you are able to give me wisdom and ability, so I am acting faith because I cannot afford to pay someone right now."
That prayer changed my life. Since I prayed that, I have fixed washers, dryers, microwaves, computers, cordless phones, ceiling fans, exhaust fans for my bathroom, drywall, vehicles, ovens, stoves, guitar amps, guitars, televisions, mowers, pipes, sinks, tubs and toilets. It led me to having a construction job that helped me remodel a basement into a sophisticated entertainment room.
So, discipline yourself to rejoice instead of complaining. Stop saying you married the wrong person and ask God to help you be who He has called you to be and the same for your spouse. Stop giving up on people and circumstances and rejoice in God until He gives you the way out of it. Rejoicing unlocks joy. It's scientifically proven that gratefulness releases joy. Focus on the Lord, rejoice in Him and make it a habit to rejoice always as you make a great day!
