Sunday's Verse of the Day Devotional

Good morning! Forgiveness is a hard subject to talk about. It's not easy to do when you have been unjustly hurt, wronged or betrayed. But, Jesus said it is necessary to forgive to receive forgiveness from the Father.

It's not easy to be kind and merciful towards those who have done something against you. But look at the last part of the verse. That is how we make can do it, by looking to Christ, we can be Christ-like in forgiving.

No, forgiveness doesn't undo the injustice. What it does though, is put the matter into God's hands and letting Him be just with the person in His perfect judgment over the situation. You wipe you hands of the burden and let God deal with the person's heart.

He can bear the burden, you can't. If you hold onto it, you will grow bitter and poison yourself while hoping the other person dies. When you forgive them, they're not getting away with it, you're just getting rid of that which is destroying you. Let God deal with them, you just release them and the hurt they've caused. You will feel lifted and lightened to be able to go make a great day!
