Good morning! Would you still serve God if He sent a plague, a pestilence and a famine to your country? Would you be mad at Him, shake your fist at heaven and curse His name? Or would you posture yourself to repent and ask Him to forgive us as a nation for our sins?
Tough questions, but this verse is talking about that. Verse thirteen says, "When I shut up heaven and there is no rain, or command the locusts to devour the land, or send pestilence among My people," That is the first half of this sentence.
The point of God sending all of this is to get the result of verse fourteen. He wants to get people's attention and have them repent. He wants a right relationship with people and sin destroys that. Whenever there is sin, God will allow trouble to cause people to wake up from their spiritual slumber.
It doesn't matter who we elect or what policy we adopt or what law we pass. Until a nation humbles themselves, prays to seek God's face, and turns from their wicked ways, we will never have peace, prosperity of healing in our land. It is time we turn back to Jesus as a nation and only then will He hear from heaven, forgive our sins and heal our land. Think on this today and do your part in it to make a great day!
