Saturday's Verse of the Day Devotional

Good morning! Mary's words sealed the will of God for her. When the angel told her all that God had planned, she said, "May it be unto me as you have said." That is what the angel reported back to God in heaven. There was joy in heaven and it filled Mary's heart.

That joy brought a praise and worship session in the midst of her day. She hadn't planned on an angelic visit or to receive such a calling from God. But she had it, agreed to it and aligned herself with God's will. Joy was the response.

I'd love to tell you joy was my response every time God asked something of me, but it's not. Sometimes it's dread because it's difficult, uncomfortable, costly and unpopular. But He has never asked something of me so great as He did Mary. Joy was her portion.

This season, let joy be your portion and your choice in response to all that God is doing. Praise Him, for He is worthy and will see His will come to pass through you when you are obedient. Praise undoes the burden of stress. It lets love govern your heart instead of worry and anxiety. Let the love of God for you birth His love in you for Him and others so that they may glorify God. Let people see His love in you and the joy that is unspeakable to give you strength to make each day a great day!
