Saturday's Verse of the Day Devotional

Good morning! The Apostle Paul waited until the last chapter of Ephesians to talk about the armor of God and for good reason. If you start by putting on the armor without applying all the other things in the chapters before, you will not be prepared for battle.

It's not enough to be willing to fight, you must be trained and prepared to fight. A boxer doesn't show up to a fight without first doing a lot of training. Otherwise, they will likely not make it past the first round. Paul starts by saying, "Finally," meaning everything said before is leading to this moment.

Once you've understood Jesus, understood who you are in Christ, have partaken of His grace, aligned your life with His, put off the old self and put Him on as the new man to be renewed in the spirit of your mind to think like Christ, then and only then can you put on the armor and be victorious in battle.

If you don't do all of those things first, you will have cracks in the armor and be vulnerable to the attacks of the enemy. The enemy is smarter than you, but He is not smarter than Jesus. That's why you have to take you off and put Him on. Choose to put him on daily before you suit up for battle. Then you will have what it takes to be victorious and make each day a great day!
