Saturday's Verse of the Day Devotional

Writer's picture: Bret SanorBret Sanor

Good morning! Would you still serve God even if He sent calamity upon you? Would you still love Him if He took away everything precious to you? No, it wouldn't be easy, but true love doesn't give up or quit just because hard times come.

In traditional marriage vows, you say a vow and make a promise to love and honor, cherish and obey, in sickness and health, in poverty and wealth until death alone parts you. This verse is the second part of a sentence the Lord is saying to a nation.

Verse thirteen says, "When I shut up heaven and there is no rain, or command the locusts to devour the land, or send pestilence among My people," which leads to our verse today. Much different context when we read all of it.

Sometimes, God is doing harsh things to get our attention so that we do not wreck the relationship. God has a marriage supper of the Lamb for us and He doesn't want us to miss it. It's easy to get complacent in a relationship when you have been in it for a long time. God wants our love for Him to be on fire all the time and not getting lazy in our seeking Him. Seek Him with all your heart and let His love for you burn in your heart as you make a great day!
