Good morning! Zacharias had been visited by Gabriel the messenger angel of God months before Mary was. Unlike Mary, he didn't immediately accept what was delivered to him about he and his wife having a child because of their age and his wife's condition.
It cost him his ability to speak for months. His son would be John the Baptist who would be the cousin of Jesus and the prophetic messenger to announce Jesus. When John was born, they were wanting to name him after his father's lineage, but he wrote down his name was to be John.
When he did this, immediately his mouth was opened again and he could speak. His repentance to agree with heaven reversed his ailment. His immediate response was to praise God. There is a whole lot in that which could be its own devotional. Our response to what God is doing is important. It caused the fear of God to come upon all the people.
What happened next was the Holy Spirit came upon him and he prophesied about Jesus. It is a powerful statement. He would visit His people, not just cover their sin but redeem them, and be a horn of salvation. A horn is defined as a mighty and valiant helper, the author of deliverance, of the Messiah. Do you see Jesus as a horn to deliver, help and be a mighty King? He is coming back so ready yourself to receive the horn of our salvation. Joy shall be yours, so praise Him as you make a great day!
