Monday's Verse of the Day Devotional

Good morning! So many people today worship feelings. They are in love with their emotions and let that guide them in all they do. They think love is an emotion. It's not.

Love may have emotions that come with it, but it is an action. Feelings change often. In an instant you can switch from being happy to irate. You can be on top of the world and with a few words be gutted with grief. We cannot base love by what we feel or else our love will be fickle and inconsistent.

We cannot love God by what is trending in our brain's chemicals at the moment. If we did, we would never be obedient and only do what He says when it felt right. Jesus Himself said that if you love Him, you keep His word and do what He says regardless of how you feel.

Jesus didn't feel like going to the cross, but He surrendered His feelings and did it because He loves God and loves you. When we do what He says, we prove our true love for Him and His abiding presence accompanies us wherever we go. Show your love for Him by being a doer of the word as you live in obedience and make a great day!
