Monday's Devotional - 8/17/2026

Good morning! Oftentimes, we associate being doers of the word as being busy and active in the kingdom, as we should be. But sometimes, we can get so busy for God that we leave no time to include Him in our lives. Our first work and responsibility to the word is to keep our relationship with Jesus alive.

If we forsake our first love, we are left with religious acts that cannot save us. We have to be careful to keep Jesus at the forefront of everything we do and who we are. Without Him, we can do nothing of any moral or righteous good. No, works do not save us, but they are evidence of a changed life.

Transformation happens through intimacy in close proximity to Jesus. You can't hear what you are too far away to hear. You can't see what you are too far away to see. We are never called to just sit on our blessed assurance and do nothing with the gift of salvation we were given. The kingdom is not private; Jesus made it public.

To think we can sit around keeping it to ourselves is opposed to message and method Jesus gave us to follow. We deceive ourselves if we think otherwise. God never called us to be Gospel hoarders. He wants us to be Gospel pourers who pour out what we have received from Him as an overflow of the relationship we have with Him. Be a doer today as you make a great day!
