Good Friday's Devotional 2026

Good morning! It's always been strange to me how we call it Good Friday when something so horrific happened that day. But it's good because of what Jesus did for us. What kind of love is this to be brutalized and die like this for people who dare to crucify their Creator?
God's love is unparalleled and Jesus' obedience is unmatched. Everything we needed was accomplished on the cross. We have forgiveness through the cross. We have the hope of salvation and eternal like through the cross. We have compassion, care and the promise of the Comforter, the Holy Spirit from the cross.
We have the promise of ever-present help and presence without abandonment from the cross. We have living waters for our thirsty souls from the cross. We have the completion of all that was needed to finish the debt, legal bond and spiritual war for our lives. And we have the perfect commitment to obedience which set us free from the bonds of slavery to sin.
We no longer have to be a slave to sin, be bound by the enemy or be destined for hell. Jesus has paid it all in full. As you ponder this, what will you do with what you have been given? What will you do with this great opportunity? Will you accept the payment or will you reject His unreasonably generous gift? Today is the day of salvation; tomorrow is promised to no one. Choose Jesus. Choose life. I pray you do this today and come to understand why this is indeed Good Friday, because Christ made it a great day!
