Good morning! Jesus said He only did what He saw the Father doing and did it in like manner (John 5:19). He also said He said what He heard the Father saying and said it in like manner (John 8:28; 12:49). Jesus was the perfect imitator of God and therefore, our greatest example of how to live.
I enjoy making people laugh. It seems I can do that, at times, when I impersonate someone or something. They recognize when I imitate someone well with the way I talk, act or emote. Do people get a proper representation of God when they look at your life? Do they know who you represent with the way you live your life?
We should know how to imitate God by looking at Jesus. We imitate Him because we are children of God. I remember when my kids were really young and they would imitate me or my wife. That was cute and sometimes funny, but it was also sobering. It meant I knew I had to live in a way that showed them how to be godly and not worldly.
Kids watch people closely because they want to know what is normal behavior and speech. We need to closely observe Jesus through the word to see how He lived and do likewise in our conduct and speech. We are His children and we should act like we know who our Father is. Be an imitator of God as you go out and make a great day!
