Good morning! I remember as a kid my dad taking me with him to see a good friend of his. My dad was in a bind and asked the man if he could borrow some money to help him get through the unforeseen problem. I watched them discuss the terms and come to an agreement.
I don't know if my dad brought me as leverage to pull on his friend's heartstrings, or to teach me about this verse, but I learned a lot from this and remember it vividly decades later. His friend was gracious in lending. My dad was honorable in repaying.
No one knew about the transaction but the three of us. The man didn't tell everyone about my dad's situation nor his asking to borrow money. I said nothing and my dad kept it to himself. The lesson I learned is sometimes, we get into situations we didn't see coming and need to humble ourselves to ask for help.
I also learned that it's important who we ask for help and having good, trustworthy friends are important. I learned that it's important to keep your mouth shut and mind your own business even if you hear, see or find yourself in the midst of something like this. Avoid the trap of gossip. Treat others how you want to be treated. Pray for one another and keep matters discrete. Then, you will be honorable and help everyone you deal with make a great day!
