Friday's Verse of the Day Devotional

Good morning! Happy Independence Day America! I have a rich heritage in American history from my family. My Great, Great, Great, Great Grandpa, Michael Zeyner came here from Alsace, Germany (at the time it was Germany) as an immigrant in the late 1700's around the time of the Revolutionary War.

He joined the military and served as an Aide De Camp to General George Washington. There is much I can give about this subject, but he played an integral part in our country's history. He spied on the British and gave intel to General Washington that helped defeat General Cornwallis at Yorktown which became a turning point for the war. He was there at the founding of American Independence.

My Dad was adopted by the Sanor family so, I am not a Sanor by blood naturally, but I am a true Sanor by adoption. Adoption is both permanent and legal and can never be undone. So, grandpa Zeyner's heritage is my heritage. When I became a Christian, I was adopted into God's family. I am now a true Jew as the seed of Abraham (Gal. 3) and an heir; an heir of God and joint-heir with Christ (Rom. 8:17).

Grandpa fought along with other members of my family over the years to not only give us freedom but to keep us free as a nation. Christ came to give us citizenship in heaven, an eternal inheritance and true freedom from the tyranny of sin. I am thankful for my citizenship in America and in heaven. I am thankful for my heritage as a Sanor and as a child of God.

My prayer for you is that you never take for granted the freedom we have as a nation and never misuse the freedom we have as Christians. May you experience true freedom not in this life by in eternity by knowing Jesus and receiving the gift of His life that was laid down for you. Be thankful for those who paid the price for our natural freedom and be thankful for Christ who has given us eternal freedom as you make a great day! Stay safe out there!
