Friday's Verse of the Day Devotional

Good morning! It's a tough thing to see Jesus say we are evil. But, His point is without the Holy Spirit, we can never be holy. We have all sinned against God and therefore, deserve death as the penalty.

Even sinners know that if your child asks for a toy, you don't give them a scorpion instead. So, even in a sinful mind, they still know how to give good gifts. How much more will God, who is perfect and holy give the good gift of the Holy Spirit to us who ask!

That's the point of what Jesus is saying here. Without His blood, we have no hope of our sins being removed. Without the Holy Spirit, we have no hope of living a holy life that is pleasing to God. We need the good gifts from a good God who gives us the very best even though we all deserve the very worst because of our sin. Thank Him today for giving us the best! Ask to receive the Holy Spirit to help you live right, understand the Lord's will and to be able to make each day a great day!
