Friday's Verse of the Day Devotional

Good morning! Today is called Good Friday. It doesn't look good when you see what happened to Jesus on this day, but what He did for us makes it good. The law was a mirror to show us our sinfulness and reveal our need for a savior.
The law, though, did nothing to save us. It gave us a temporary covering, so God could deal with us in our sin. But Jesus came to fulfill that need in the law to satisfy the wrath of God for sin. He was beaten beyond recognition. He was bruised for all our internal pain.
The cross destroyed what life He had left in Him, that by His stripes and wounds, we could be healed. He healed our sin, our sicknesses and diseases (Psalm 103:3), fulfilling Scripture that pointed to Him being the One. He has made peace between us and God through His own life's blood.
How great a love He has for us! Yes, it was an ugly day for what had to happen in order to forgive our sins and purchase eternal life for us, but because we now have peace with God, it is indeed a Good Friday! Think upon the sacrifice of the cross and the suffering of Jesus for your sake. Don't take this precious gift for granted, but use it to help you to make each day a great day!
