Today is day we remember the September 11, 2001 attacks on our country. We may never know the full scope of all that happened and who was behind all of the attacks in its full detail. But we definitely know it was devastating and many people lost their lives because of it.
As we reflect on what happened that day, we can also reflect on different things that have happened on this day like the Benghazi attack killing Americans who were their on assignment. We reflect on the assassination of Charlie Kirk yesterday and the devastation these events have had on people's lives. Where do we find hope?
Our nation is definitely in distress. Evil people find new ways to do evil things towards those they oppose and/or innocent people like women and children. The identity of our nation is in crisis and a battle for what kind of people we will be. In the midst of chaos and the rubble of 9/11/2001, something emerged to point us toward hope and healing.
As first responders were losing hope in the midst of the destruction and death, the dust and smoke started to disperse and they saw a cross in the midst of the debris. It was then they got the hope they needed and the strength to keep going in search of victims and potential survivors.
Our country needs deliverance, healing and hope. In the midst of all the turmoil and chaos, we must once again turn our eyes to the cross and see the old rugged beam that for centuries has shown us the love of God. He sent His only begotten Son to unjustly die for our sins. His just Son for all unjust humanity to free us from the penalty of our own rebellion.
The only hope for civility, peace and America's survival is for us to repent of our wickedness in every form, turn from our selfish ways, seek His face once again and pray for God's intervention. Look to the cross, remember the empty grave, love one another as Christ loved us and make God the Lord of our lives once again.
Only after we kneel can we truly stand for freedom, liberty, truth and justice. "Nevertheless when one turns to the Lord, the veil is taken away. For the Lord is the Spirit and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is freedom and liberty" (2 Corinthians 3:16-17). Be bold, be courageous, be humble, seek justice and live for Christ as you go forward in hope for God to heal our land.
