Thursday's Devotional - 11/05/2026

Good morning! The word "fear" in this verse means to see the awesomeness of God and be afraid of that awesomeness, with reverence, respect, piety. It is the beginning of wisdom to have this fear of God. It is wise to see God as awesome because His power is unmatched.

Knowing how powerful and awesome He is brings understanding of why this kind of fear is warranted towards God. It doesn't mean we have to fear coming near to Him, because Jesus has granted us access to Him. We can now approach boldly the throne of grace to receive mercy in a time of need according to Hebrews 4:14-16.

Jesus told us to not fear man, as it is a trap. But to fear God who cannot only destroy our natural life but can throw our souls into destruction. Therefore, let us take sinfulness serious and do all we can to live a life pleasing to God. Live like you understand who God is and you will not live in fear but know the cost He paid to free you from that which separates us from Him. Think on this as you make a great day!
