Saturday's Verse of the Day Devotional

Good morning! I remember getting to be around 16-17 and thinking I knew more than my dad. I thought I no longer needed advice. This went on a few years before I started trying to fix my car. Dad tried to help and I told him I didn't want or need his help.
He sat on the porch and watched me as I rounded off bolt heads, snapped off parts and busted my knuckles to a bloody pulp. Then he stepped in and showed me a tool he had that was exactly for the job I was trying to do. After all, he was a mechanic and managed a gas station/service shop.
I thought I knew better, but I was proved wrong by my own ego and folly. I learned to listen to his instructions and found there was a tool for every job. I had plans to do it my way, but it left me broken and with a much bigger job than I started out with. If I had only listened to my father...
So often, we think we can do it all by ourselves and we ignore the wise counsel of God and His word. We get into a mess and we ask Him to come bail us out. What we find is that if we had just prayed, asked for help and read the word, we would get the counsel, instructions and right tools to fix things without making a bigger mess by doing things God's way.
Learn to listen to your Father in heaven. His counsel is everlasting and He is the mechanic that fixes every human condition. Let Him teach you how to fix what's broken and maintain it so it does break again. Let Him help you to trust Him and His plans so that every day will be made into a great day!
