Good morning! Jesus had what is known as the "I AM" statements in the gospel of John. Most count seven of them, but there are actually eight. This is the one most people skip over and is, I believe, the most important one.
Here, Jesus is claiming to be God. "I AM" was the way God revealed Himself to Moses and means "the self-existent One." At this, the Pharisees thought He had blasphemed and was ready to stone Him to death. Jesus slipped away and bypassed their attempt to take His life.
Sequentially, this is the third "I AM" statement. He was pointing the Jews and Jewish leaders to the Old Testament to show He was who was prophesied about as the coming Messiah. It's important we see Jesus as God. He is not just the Son of God, but is God. He is the second person of the Godhead.
Father, Son and Holy Spirit are all God, three persons in one being. See Jesus for who He truly is and you will be blessed with every spiritual blessing. May you see Him in light of who He said He is and proved to be as you make a great day!
