Saturday's Devotional - 8/29/2026

Good morning! Repentance is often looked at something you do once when you come to Jesus and then move forward past it in faith. But Jesus is addressing those who have believed and emphasizing the need for continual repentace of sin. We shouldn't sin, but we should also not think repentance is a one time event at an altar either.

He loves us all, but His love for those who love Him comes with a chastening. Not to destroy us but to correct us and keep us on the right path of faith. True love has discipline. I don't let my kids go down the wrong path. I warn them, I correct them and I love them back to the right direction. True love corrects and chastens. We should not resist proper correction. It is for our own good and God knows best.

He rebukes to awaken. It's like someone asleep in a burning house. On your way out, you don't slip by the person without waking them and say, "Let them sleep, they probably need the rest." No, you wake them up and pull them out of bed to save them. People are asleep in their sin and unaware of the hellfire around them that threatens to take their life.

Love awakens them and tells them to turn to the exit. Jesus is that exit from the fire. He is the safe place to go when danger is eminent. Will you turn to Him let His knocking awaken you to get out of the burning house? If you answer the door, you find rest and safe shelter. Turn to Him today and let Him rescue you from the stronghold of sin so you can rejoice and make a great day!
