Good morning! This verse is the Apostle Paul addressing issues in the Corinthian church about divisions and contentions. Some wanted to follow certain people and leaders and were falling back into their roots of following men instead of Christ.
They often followed guru's and worshiped knowledge and philosophy. Paul was telling them not to revert back to the worldly things and systems, but to follow Christ. Christ is and never was divided, and His body shouldn't be either.
Modernly, it is much the same. People are followers of certain famous preachers. They have favorites and will watch everything they broadcast or post. It's like they follow them rather than Jesus and like those preachers are their relationship with Christ instead of having one personally with Christ.
This should not be so. I think if the Apostle Paul was still on the earth, America would be getting a couple letters. It is Jesus who saves. It is Jesus who baptizes us with the Holy Spirit. It is Jesus who is the head of the body, His church. No one else died for you to save you. Follow Jesus and Him alone. He is alone is worthy and unifies. Be united together with each other in Christ and you will always be able to make a great day!
