Monday's Verse of the Day Devotional

Good morning! An old adage says, "Never judge a book by its cover." I think it applies here and the approach God takes with us. God chooses people by the motives of their heart, not by the appearance they have.
If all you have is a pretty or handsome face, a fit body and nice clothes, what good is it if you are unbearable to be around? They are many people who look the part for something, but are not fit for it because of their attitude or bad motives.
In Isaiah 53, Jesus is not only foretold of what He would suffer, but that His appearance would be average at best. It says there was nothing about His appearance that we should be attracted to Him. (Isaiah 53:2) Yet, because of His love and goodness, He is the most beautiful figure in human history.
He was dismissed and overlooked by the religious leaders and even His own people, yet He fulfilled the mission of fulfilling the law, atoning for sin, resurrecting from the dead and establishing a new and better covenant that redeemed us from our sins. Remember, people may overlook you, but God sees your heart. Let that motivate you to be pure in all you do, to trust Him and His timing and to always do your best to make a great day!
