Good morning! Context is important for understanding the meaning of anything. Paul is writing to the Colossian church about how to treat each other. The passage starts in verse 12 with this, "Therefore, as the elect of God, holy and beloved, put on tender mercies, kindness, humility, meekness, longsuffering;..."
We are called to be the elect of God. So, with that, we should act like it in how we treat one another. We should be holy in our conduct, set apart for God, knowing we are beloved by Him. We should clothe ourselves with compassion, kindness, humility, meekness and patience for each other.
We should be quick to listen, slow to speak and slow to anger. We should be willing to walk through anything together and be intercessors of forgiveness. Remember how Christ has dealt with you and deal with others in like manner. Then you will always be able to make a great day!
