Good morning! I have heard this verse misquoted more times than I care to count. Most quote this to say "God will never give you more than you can bear" but that is not what this is saying. If that were true, then why did Jesus go to the garden and say He was overwhelmed to the point of death? Why did He pray three times to have the burden taken away?
God does not tempt us, but He does allow us to be tested. God gives us a way out of our temptation. He doesn't let us face temptation without an answer. The Holy Spirit gives us strength to overcome by the grace found in Christ.
It's up to us to walk away from the temptation by walking with the Spirit. God doesn't want us to walk in our strength but to fully rely upon Him and submit to His will. This is what Jesus did and how He overcame the temptations He faced. We should follow His example and when we do, you will find you can make a great day!
